Bestia de Cardo (Austin Film Festival 2014, Cinequest Film Festival 2015, Festival de Cine Mix Mexico 2015) is her first feature film as a director.
Moira goes home to Cardo after living in New York in the film Beast of Cardo/Bestia de Cardo (Spanish with English subtitles) by Director Virginia Sánchez Navarro. Set in Cardo, Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) the film centers around Moira (Virginia Sánchez Navarro) who goes through life in what seems to be a state of limbo.
Beast of Cardo mostly escapes this criticism, but does fall solidly into the drawer in scenes and themes that bookend an otherwise fairly interesting slice of life tale. How much is metaphor, how much is imagined, or is it all actually meant to be rationalized in a semi-magical and mythological sense of world?
